Borders or Shapes will Not Apply to Portrait Images, How Can I Fix This?

If your PNG image contains an alpha channel you will not be able to apply borders or shapes to the image. 

We recommend removing the alpha channel from the images (typically done by opening the image file in Photoshop and flattening the layers) and resaving as a png file, or resaving the images as a JPEG format and replacing the current Portrait images as needed in the software.
